Fundamentals of Herbal Medicine

There are safe, effective and inexpensive herbal remedies that can help you and your loved ones feel better. This informative class includes:

  • The different types of herbal preparations: tinctures, teas, capsules, etc. Students will be able to see, smell and taste a number of herbal preparations.
  • An herb walk to enjoy the local seasonal plants
  • How to use herbs safely
  • How herbs differ from homeopathy, aromatherapy and other "alternative" health treatments
  • The scientific validation of herbal medicine
  • The traditional basis of Western herbal medicine (Native American, Western European, Appalachian, and more)
  • How to choose quality herbal remedies at the store

This class is also the beginning of the Spring session for the Herbal Apprentices, but is open to the community.
